How to Lose Control: A Recipe

Take a slice of bitterness and let it rise on the counter while you mix up a cup of envy, shame and pride. Stir furiously until your arm feels like it will fall off and you begin to cry. Set it aside.

Chop up three handfuls of fear and sprinkle in two or three spoonfuls of curiosity. Take the slice of bitterness and put it on a low heat. Think about something you can’t control. Turn to high heat and stir in the mixture of envy, shame and pride and let it come to a rolling boil. Remove from heat.

Take one worry and juice it until you have a shot. Combine bitterness, envy, shame, and pride with the fear and curiosity until blended. Slowly pour the worry in until the mixture hardens. Remove from bowl and place on counter. Take a meat tenderizer and bang it furiously. (By now you might have scared off anyone who came in to offer a helping hand. The key is to keep working diligently.) Flip it over and keep puncturing until it appears bruised. Garnish with humiliation.
